What is Have A Gay Day?
Have A Gay Day is a nonprofit 501c3 based in Dayton, Ohio. It brings people together, share kindness, and make sure LGBTQ+ individuals and families feel seen, supported, and cared for.
Who is Have A Gay Day for?
We’re here for LGBTQ+ folks, families, allies, and anyone who needs a little extra support or community. If you feel like this space is for you, then it is.
Do I have to be LGBTQ+ to volunteer or receive help?
Not at all. Everyone is welcome. Allies, friends, neighbors, and families are always invited.
Programs & Support
What kind of help do you offer?
We offer different types of support throughout the year, which may include food assistance, pet supplies, personal care items, seasonal support, and community events. What we offer can change based on need and availability, but our heart stays the same.
Do I need an appointment?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Some programs are walk-in, and others have specific dates or sign-ups. We always share the latest details on our website and social media.
How often can I receive help?
We do our best to support people as often as we can while making sure we’re able to help as many community members as possible. Some programs offer support once a month, others offer help once a year. Each program is different so please check out each programs info.
Events
What kind of events do you host?
We host inclusive, family-friendly events throughout the year from Pride celebrations and Coming Out Day to Trunk-or-Treat, Holiday Events, and Community Gatherings.
Are your events family-friendly?
Yes. Our events are designed to be welcoming, safe, and inclusive for people of all ages. There are some events that may ask you be 18+ and all events require anyone under the age of 18 attend with a parent or guardian.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
Some events require registration so we can plan food or space, while others are open to everyone. We’ll always let you know ahead of time.
Volunteering
I’d love to help — how can I volunteer?
Volunteers are the heart of what we do. You can sign up through our website or reach out to us directly. Most of our volunteering can be found through the Point App.
Do I need experience?
No experience needed at all. We’ll guide you and make sure you feel comfortable and supported. Some volunteer opportunities will have some extra helps and training to get started.
Can a group or business volunteer together?
Absolutely. We welcome group volunteers and love working with local businesses and organizations.
